Deborah Harry - One of the things that put Blondie on the map was “Heart of Glass,” which crossed over. Stephen art directed the video. Well, at that point, crossing over was not hip. It was foul play and corruption and a lot of the rock ’n’ roll people were disgusted. But Stephen got it. Because his own taste was hardcore rock ‘n’ roll, and yet he was part of the fashion world.
Dennis Christopher, colleague at Halston - We’d stay late and smoke marijuana and turn the music up really loud and Stephen would draw. That was what we did while the king was away. We also used to sneak clothes out for Debbie Harry to wear. She wasn’t famous yet and a couple times we got in trouble for that. - Magic Marker
Deborah Harry performs at the opening of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Annex NYC, a $9 million SoHo branch of the original Cleveland museum.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annex in New York’s Soho opened its doors last night with a bang: Visitors took an audio tour of the museum with a little help from wireless headphones before retreating upstairs to a huge loft party. Rolling Stone’s Jann S. Wenner gave the opening remarks, and Dave Mason performed the Traffic hit “Feelin Alright.” Debbie Harry, in a black beret, belted out “Call Me” and a border-line acoustic version of “Heart of Glass.” After making their way down the red carpet, guests such as Jimmy Destri, Les Paul and Run DMC’s Darryl McDaniels took turns signing a huge make-shift plywood wall. - Rolling Stone

Deborah speaks with Billboard Editorial Director Bill Werde about her career and why she's this year's recipient of the Icon Award
Congratulations Deborah!
Debbie received the Icon award at the 3rd annual Billboard Women In Music breakfast, given to a woman whose art and career have blazed trails for successive generations.
NEW YORK (Billboard) - With three decades in the business and a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, you'd think the outlaw spirit that once guided Debbie Harry's life and career might have faded by now, replaced by the pragmatic conservatism of a career artist.
But get the eternally young 63-year-old talking about the past, and she still revels in her iconoclastic moments.
"Probably one of the first people to be outrageously inventive in crossing over was (Bob) Dylan," says Harry. "He took electronic instruments into folk. People were completely outraged; they were furious. Really, this was hell. This was committing complete sacrilege. That's the same response we got when we did 'Heart of Glass.' We had committed sacrilege. Rock 'n' roll people were completely offended and wouldn't even talk to us. It was great. We thought, 'My God, we did what Dylan did. That's outstanding. What could be more punk than that?'" - More

Fall Out Boy bassist/band spokesperson Pete Wentz named a few surprising artists who will appear on their upcoming record, Folie a Deux. Wentz told MTV News that Rap superstar Lil Wayne makes a cameo, while Pharrell Williams produced one of the new tracks. Wentz also revealed that Debbie Harry has recorded something for the record too, and members of Panic At The Disco are also expected to feature. "We got Wayne and Debbie Harry cameos done," he wrote in an e-mail. "Pharrell produced a track too. I just think the record is going to be diverse," he wrote. "It goes all the way between [Blondie and Lil Wayne]." Folie a Deux is out December 16.
